I am 58 and went to one of those good schools in the 1970's. My Grandparents came from Italy. They left their communities too and believed that a "good education" was all important. There is definitely something to be said for roots. Even with those figures it could still be a significant trend over time. I wonder what the percentage was 50 or even 20 years ago. More than half of Americans live less than 50 miles of where they grew up. And 65% of adult children live within an hour's drive of their parents.
